This useful tool is a machine-engineered metal block with 96 pins aligned central to each well of a 96 well plate. The pierce plate’s 96 pins pierce every well of a heat or adhesive-sealed 96 well PCR or microplate (pierceable seals only).

Enables instant access to samples with a single or multichannel pipette or automated system.

The Pierce Plate can be cleaned between uses to avoid contamination by using most cleaning agents that are suitable for use on aluminium e.g. RNase removal solutions, bleach or UV treatment.

Low profile, 0.1 ml polypropylene wells, working volume: <100 µl, total well capacity: 200 µl; can be used as a standalone product or inserted in any of the Vari-Plate™ frames available for ease of handling.

These low profile PCR tube strips are moulded from virgin polypropylene under cleanroom conditions.

They are available in either clear polypropylene for standard PCR techniques, or in white polypropylene for use in fluorescent detection applications like qPCR, as they give the highest sensitivity and consistency as all the fluorescence signal is reflected back to the detector.

– Can be used as individual strips, or in a Vari-Plate™ frame for easier handling
– Low profile 0.1 ml (100 µl) working volume, with a 0.2 ml (200 µl) total well capacity when used with sealing options
– Ultra-smooth, uniform, thin-walled polypropylene tubes for optimum PCR and real-time (RT-qPCR) results
– Raised well rims prevent cross contamination and facilitate effective sealing for reduced evaporation

Designed to directly print text, linear barcodes, 2D codes and graphics on plastic laboratory tubes using patent pending Thermal Pixel Printing technology.

The TubeMarker™ 2 allows printing directly onto the surface of plastic laboratory tubes between 6 mm – 30 mm in diameter.

There is no need for using labels or marker pens. Marking is resistant to ethanol, isopropanol, water, DMSO*, liquid nitrogen and mechanical abrasion. The prints are also stable over a wide temperature range (-196 °C to 100 °C). Markings do not transfer when touching the tubes.

Several lines of text can be printed, for example: sample name, sampling site, your name, date and time etc. All TrueType fonts available on the connected computer can be printed in a range of different sizes, which determines the maximum printable content. Bold and italic type is also available.

The instrument can also print linear barcodes, datamatrix (2D) codes and graphic files (monochrome .bmp, .gif or .tiff) such as logos. Print orientation can be vertical or horizontal (except for barcodes which print vertically only).

The TubeMarker™ 2 includes an Automatic Printing Delay feature, where the instrument is able to detect the presence of a tube and automatically prints the next label entry in the software. This feature makes printing to the tube surface much easier and faster than marking by hand.

4titude®’s Thermal Test Film (TTF) can be used in conjunction with a roll fed (e.g. a4S Automatic Roll Heat Sealer) or sheet fed (e.g. 4s3 Semi-Automatic Sheet Heat Sealer) heat sealer to check the uniformity and reproducibility of the heat sealing block of the instrument.

The film can be used to effectively test the temperature of the heating block between 160 – 200 °C.

Depending on the temperature applied to the film, a colour is produced in varying density and hue – giving a perfect image of heat distribution across the heating block of your heat sealer.

The colour varies according to dwell time and temperature. The shorter the duration, the paler and more blueish the colour. The longer the duration, the more saturated and reddish the colour. Please refer to the colour chart below.

The 4s3™ is a semi-automatic sheet heat sealer which is compatible with a wide range of seals and plates of differing designs and heights.

With variable temperature and time settings, sealing conditions are easily optimised to produce a 100% seal, eliminating sample loss.

Plate and seal are placed on the holder, the “Operate” button pressed and the drawer automatically closes. The sealing process is controlled by an electric mechanism. This unique feature eliminates operator variation, giving a consistent seal every time and reducing the damage caused to microplates by over-sealing.

Features

Real Time Display

The rapid heating element allows for a quick start up within minutes. The temperature is displayed in real time so that the heating up process can be monitored.

 

Energy Saving Functions

When the unit is left idle it automatically switches to standby mode, during which the temperature of the heating element is reduced to 60 °C to save energy. When the sealer is left idle for longer periods it switches off automatically for added safety. The times at which the unit switches into standby and switch off modes can be adjusted to suit the user’s needs.

 

Adapters and Sealing Aids

The 4s3™ employs a unique and cost saving adapter system. Deep well plates and most other skirted plates can be sealed on the standard plate carrier (4ti-0615, supplied with the unit). For all 96 well PCR plates an additional plate carrier (4ti-0625, optional extra) must be used. Both plate carriers can also be combined for easier handling of shallow well plates such as 384 well PCR plates.

For better sealing of those films which have a tendency to curl, 4titude® offer sealing aids. A weighted platen (4ti-0602) for use with deep well blocks can be ordered separately and a sealing frame for use with all other plate designs is supplied when ordering the optional 4ti-0625 adapter.

The sealer allows for sealing of Random Access Plates with the corresponding Random Access Heat Seals using the Random Access adapter (4ti-0613).

 

RS-232 Port for Automation Integration

The 4s3™ has an RS-232 port to enable it to be integrated into most automated systems.

The main advantage of the a4S is that it does not require an air supply, which gives it the flexibility to be used on standard lab benches as a stand-alone unit, or integrated within a robotic set‑up. The sealer’s rapid heating element enables a fast start-up, and the stand-by function saves energy when the unit is not in use.

The a4S sealer is compatible with a wide range of SBS footprint plates, including all PCR plate formats from 96 well to 1536 well, assay plates, deep well storage plates and microplates. Varying plate heights, from 3 mm to 60 mm can be accommodated with minimal adjustments of the instrument. Plates are presented in portrait format and the plate position on the shuttle allows good access for robotic integration.

Rolls with a width of between 75-85 mm can be loaded in either of two roll positions, depending on roll length and available space, enabling the entire instrument to fit under the gantree of most liquid handling robots.

The width and length of the applied seals are set to precisely cover an SBS footprint plate without interfering with plate stacking. The seal position can be adjusted to give an overhang at one end of the plate to facilitate ease of seal removal.

qPCR – Reduce evaporation and save money

The optimised sealing performance of the a4S heat sealer prevents reagent volume loss by evaporation.

Up to a fivefold reduction in the costs of sealing can be achieved when heat sealing with the a4S compared to using caps or adhesive seals – Reliable qPCR results and significant reagent savings.
