    This ABI® Style PCR plate offers the benefits of our 2-component design to ABI® standard block users. This design combines the advantages of ultra-thin wall polypropylene tubes for optimum PCR results with a rigid polycarbonate skirt and deck for the highest thermal stability.

    We recommend this semi-skirted plate for use with ABI® thermal cyclers and sequencers; it can be used directly with ABI® instruments with no adaptors necessary. The only case where this is not true is with the ABI Fast Block thermal cyclers; in which case using our FrameStar® FastPlate is recommended instead – found here.

    Forensic applications demand the highest quality consumables. Avoiding external DNA contamination is of the utmost importance, and as a result high demands are placed upon manufacturers of products for use throughout the workflow.

    At 4titude®, we have a stringently controlled cleanroom production facility certified, according to ISO 9001 and ISO 13485, for production of DNA and RNA free products. Following cleanroom production, 4titude®’s consumables for forensic use are packed into ethylene oxide permeable bags and then subjected to ethylene oxide sterilisation. This 2-step processing ensures degradation of amplifiable DNA.

      Accurate, Sensitive and Consistent for Real Time PCR

      Low profile, 0.1 ml polypropylene wells, polycarbonate frame with upstand, cut corner A1, working volume: <100 µl, total well capacity: 200 µl; designed for use on ABI® Fast Block cyclers.

      This semi-skirted low profile plate is recommended for use with ABI® Fast block thermal cyclers.

      The low profile wells of this plate are shorter than “standard” profile wells, which decrease the “dead space” between the heated lid of the thermal cycler and the sample in the well. This eliminates condensation forming on the side wall of the tubes, preventing reduction in PCR volume and increasing the efficiency of the reaction. This is especially recommended for reaction volumes below 20 µl.

      The rigid polycarbonate skirt of this design eliminates warping and distortion during PCR, and makes it ideal for use with robotic systems. Its skirt also allows for labelling or barcoding.

      However, white well PCR plates may lead to software related problems with ABI®/Life Technologies® cyclers. For this reason the manufacturer recommends the use of plates with frosted wells as an alternative to white wells. Although the frosting does not provide the same sensitivity as white wells, readings are still considerably higher than those achieved with standard clear wells.

      In response to this, we at 4titude® have developed a frosted well variety of the FrameStar® FastPlate 96 well to offer ABI®/Life Technologies® instrument users the time and money-saving advantages of FrameStar®. And as the signal levels are directly comparable with ABI®/Life Technologies® plates, there’s no need for users to recalibrate their instruments.

        Now Available – Low Binding Plates with Ultra-Low DNA Binding Properties

        Sensitive applications such as Next Generation Sequencing sample preparation applications demand the highest quality consumables. Low binding polypropylene tubes allow for multiple incubation and transfer steps without sample loss.

        Polypropylene (PP) is the best plastic material for PCR tubes as it is chemically inert, resistant to solvents, and well suited for injection moulding – allowing for production of thin-walled tubes for optimum PCR results.

        DNA has been shown to bind to PP tubes especially at high ionic strength, despite the very hydrophobic nature of this material. Different PP polymers are used for the production of PCR consumables and as they differ in their characteristics including surface charges, they consequently bind DNA in varying amounts.

        DNA binding to PP surfaces has typically only been an issue for reaction tubes and storage vessels but not for PCR/qPCR tubes. DNA sticking to tube walls is either released during denaturation steps and/or remains accessible for amplification.

        Nevertheless, due to a progressing volume miniaturisation and with new technologies such as Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), PCR/qPCR tubes are more and more also recommended for other applications which may require ultra-low DNA binding.

        Plates of this design with ultra-low DNA binding properties are now available to order under the product code 4ti-LB0770/C.

        • Low-binding feature results from selected low-bind polymers, no coating is used to achieve the binding characteristics – No contamination or modification of the samples

                Now Available – Low Binding Plates with Ultra-Low DNA Binding Properties

                Sensitive applications such as Next Generation Sequencing sample preparation applications demand the highest quality consumables. Low binding polypropylene tubes allow for multiple incubation and transfer steps without sample loss.

                Polypropylene (PP) is the best plastic material for PCR tubes as it is chemically inert, resistant to solvents, and well suited for injection moulding – allowing for production of thin-walled tubes for optimum PCR results.

                DNA has been shown to bind to PP tubes especially at high ionic strength, despite the very hydrophobic nature of this material. Different PP polymers are used for the production of PCR consumables and as they differ in their characteristics including surface charges, they consequently bind DNA in varying amounts.

                DNA binding to PP surfaces has typically only been an issue for reaction tubes and storage vessels but not for PCR/qPCR tubes. DNA sticking to tube walls is either released during denaturation steps and/or remains accessible for amplification.

                Nevertheless, due to a progressing volume miniaturisation and with new technologies such as Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), PCR/qPCR tubes are more and more also recommended for other applications which may require ultra-low DNA binding.

                Plates of this design with ultra-low DNA binding properties are now available to order under the product code 4ti-LB0960/RIG.

                • Low-binding feature results from selected low-bind polymers, no coating is used to achieve the binding characteristics – No contamination or modification of the samples

                  While clear wells are the best for sample visibility and optical appeal, white wells increase the signal-to-noise ratio by maximising reflect of light in fluorescent based assays used in real-time PCR and qPCR. This leads to a better sensitivity and reproducibility from a wide range of qPCR instruments from most manufacturers.

                  However, white well PCR plates may lead to software related problems with ABI®/Life Technologies® cyclers. For this reason the manufacturer recommends the use of plates with frosted wells as an alternative to white wells. Although the frosting does not provide the same sensitivity as white wells, readings are still considerably higher than those achieved with standard clear wells.

                  In response to this, we at 4titude® have developed a frosted well variety of the FrameStar® 384 well plate to offer ABI®/Life Technologies® instrument users the time and money-saving advantages of FrameStar®. And as the signal levels are directly comparable with ABI®/Life Technologies® plates, there’s no need for users to recalibrate their instruments.

                    Polypropylene wells, polycarbonate frame, cut corners A24 and P24, working volume: <30 µl, total well capacity: 55 µl; designed for use on the Roche LightCycler® 480 with 384 well block.

                    The dimensions of these plates are designed to achieve optimised assay conditions on the Roche LightCycler® 480, and are in a 384 well format for reaction volumes of up to 30 µl.

                    The rigid two-component design eliminates warping and distortion during the PCR process, making it ideal for use with robotic systems.
