ROTOR HDA

Genome-wide screening is easy when you have the right tools. You need a collection library – which we don’t provide (but we can tell you who does)! And you need a precision method of pinning colonies – this is why we created the ROTOR.

The ROTOR uses a robotic arm and sterile, ready-to-use replica plating pads to pick up samples of cells from culture plates. The robotic arm then moves to a new ‘target’ plate and deposits the cells. The operator selects and uses an appropriate program from a simple, drop-down menu.

How does ROTOR Work?

The ROTOR is capable of pinning nearly a million colonies per hour. Making it the fastest and most powerful colony manipulation robot in the world. It is essential for any large-scale microbial functional or chemical genomic studies.

This easy-to-use, compact bench-top robot is elegantly designed for the picking and re-plating of yeast, fungi, bacteria and algae colonies at densities 96, 384, 1536 and 6144. Using the 6144 RePads, the ROTOR can replicate the entire yeast deletion library in quadruplicate in less than 20 seconds! Reagent sets such as deletion mutant collections and the complete set of cloned yeast genes can be utilised for high-throughput 2-hybrid, synthetic genetic array, phenotypic and chemical-genetic analyses.

Duplicate and back up large libraries of yeast, fungi, bacteria and algae.

Re-plate cells from liquid to agar and vice versa.

Replicate, mate, and re-array from single or multiple source plates at densities of 96, 384, 1536 and 6144.

XL100 Vial Handling System

XL100 (or XL200) Series Vial Handling Instruments are robotic pick and place vial handling systems used by drug discovery and biotech laboratories.  Typical applications include sample receipt processing, vial weighing for compound dissolution, tube weighing for biotech agricultural groups, print and apply vial labelling for all types and sizes, walk-away vial capping and decapping systems, and liquid handling for the widest array of vial based sample processing with built in sample transfer verification. 

The XL Series can be manufactured with the various modules to meet your group’s automation needs.  These include a linear barcode reader to decode barcoded labels wrapped around a vial, a 2D barcode reader for data matrix barcodes on the bottom of vials, an automated balance for weighing applications, a decapper/recapper for screw cap vials, an automated capper for walk-away capping of screw cap vials, an electronic pipette for liquid handling operations, rack transfer station, and the new XL LabelPro for print and apply vial labelling. 

Vial processing modes include work list, data collection, and tare/gross weighing.  For example, the XL software processes vials and collects 1D barcode and weight information.  The collected information is then provided in the form of a user defined output file (.csv or .txt).

The Select Vortex Mixer uses a continuously adjustable speed control, giving you complete control over the mixing speed of samples tubes.

Intuitive Operations 

Continuously adjustable speed control makes the Select Vortex Mixer useful for a variety of applications from gentle mixing of samples to resuspending pellets. Two modes of operation can be selected. “Touch” control allows the Select Vortex Mixer to be activated only when needed by depressing the sample head. When set to “on” the unit will operate continuously until switched to the off position.

 

The general purpose cup attachment supplied with the Select Vortex Mixer accepts a variety of different sized tubes. Additional heads are available for mixing larger sample tubes, multiple micro-tubes and microplates. Heavy duty construction ensures a long life, and combined with the rubber feet, keeps the unit stable and prevents “walking”. A small footprint allows the Select Vortex Mixer to be used virtually anywhere, including temperature controlled environments from 4° to 65° C.
