The XL100 Vial Handler is a bench top vial sorter that works with a wide range of test tubes and vials. XL100 options include an automated sample balance and tube decapping stations. The XL100 modular design allows for an upgrade path to automate liquid handling tasks.

XL100 Vial Handling System

XL100 (or XL200) Series Vial Handling Instruments are robotic pick and place vial handling systems used by drug discovery and biotech laboratories.  Typical applications include sample receipt processing, vial weighing for compound dissolution, tube weighing for biotech agricultural groups, print and apply vial labelling for all types and sizes, walk-away vial capping and decapping systems, and liquid handling for the widest array of vial based sample processing with built in sample transfer verification. 

The XL Series can be manufactured with the various modules to meet your group’s automation needs.  These include a linear barcode reader to decode barcoded labels wrapped around a vial, a 2D barcode reader for data matrix barcodes on the bottom of vials, an automated balance for weighing applications, a decapper/recapper for screw cap vials, an automated capper for walk-away capping of screw cap vials, an electronic pipette for liquid handling operations, rack transfer station, and the new XL LabelPro for print and apply vial labelling. 

Vial processing modes include work list, data collection, and tare/gross weighing.  For example, the XL software processes vials and collects 1D barcode and weight information.  The collected information is then provided in the form of a user defined output file (.csv or .txt).

The integrated side barcode reader captures 1D and 2D barcodes wrapped around the side of a tube or vial.

Provides high resolution for detecting 1D barcodes on smaller tubes.The integrated high resolution side barcode reader captures 1D and 2D barcodes wrapped around the side of a tube or vial. Ideal for capturing barcodes on smaller tubes.
BML-XL-2D XL100/XL200 2D Reader Module
The integrated reader captures and decodes 2D barcodes on the base of a tube or vial using a camera mounted beneath the platform.
BML-XL-TL XL LabelPro Module for BioMicroLab XL Series Tube & Vial Handling Instruments
The XL LabelPro Module automates tube label printing and application. Print 1D, 2D barcodes & human readable, symbols, images, etc. Thermal transfer printer (300 or 600dpi). The Rack Transfer Station built directly into instrument deck allows other robotics access to the XL sorting platform, increasing throughput by providing off-deck access. Customized to customer labware.
BML-XL-DC XL100/XL200 Decapper/Recapper
The integrated Decapper / Capper Module enables automated capping tasks. Caps can be removed and discarded, fresh caps added, or a cap can be removed and held while a vial is filled or weigh and then recapped with the same cap. Option: pair with an integrated Cap Feeder to supply fresh caps. Customer to provide cap and vial size. Module is preconfigured to Customer’s (1) tube and vial type.
BML-XL-CAP XL100/XL200 Automated Carousel Capper
The Automated Cap Feeder provides fresh caps to the Decap / Capper module. Holds up to 480 caps. Preconfigured to customer’s (1) tube or vial type.
BML-XL-SACAP XL100/XL200 Automated Sarstedt Capper
The Automated Cap Feeder provides fresh caps to the Decap / Capper module. Holds up to 480 caps. Typically for 2mL plastic vials such as Sarstedt 2mL vials with 6mm tall caps. Preconfigured to customer’s (1) tube or vial type.
BML-XL-LH1ML XL100/XL200 Liquid Handling Module
The Liquid Handling Module uses a Tecan Cavro ADP single channel electronic pipette module to enable automated liquid handling routines. The Cavro ADP uses air displacement technology or conductive tips for liquid level detection to aspirate and dispense fluids into and from any tube, vial or rack position (such as on-deck reagent/diluent reservoir or wash areas). Features auto-load and auto-eject pipette tips. For sample volume up to 1mL. Optional: pair with customized thermal blocks for sample temperature requirements.

The Decapper / Capper Standalone unit automates capping tasks.
