Accurate, Sensitive and Consistent for Real Time PCR
Standard profile, 0.2 ml polypropylene wells, polycarbonate frame, cut corner A12, working volume: <200 µl, total well capacity: 300 µl; designed for use on all major cycles, including ABI® instruments with standard 96 well blocks; now also available as low binding plate with ultra-low DNA binding properties.
Specifically designed to be directly compatible with all major thermal cycles, this plate can be used directly in ABI® 96 well instruments without the need for any adapters.
The rigid FrameStar® 2-component design eliminates warping and distortion during PCR, making it ideal for use with robotic systems. The semi-skirt allows for labeling or barcoding for sample tracking.

Now Available – Low Binding Plates with Ultra-Low DNA Binding Properties
Sensitive applications such as Next Generation Sequencing sample preparation applications demand the highest quality consumables. Low binding polypropylene tubes allow for multiple incubation and transfer steps without sample loss.
Polypropylene (PP) is the best plastic material for PCR tubes as it is chemically inert, resistant to solvents, and well suited for injection moulding – allowing for production of thin-walled tubes for optimum PCR results.
DNA has been shown to bind to PP tubes especially at high ionic strength, despite the very hydrophobic nature of this material. Different PP polymers are used for the production of PCR consumables and as they differ in their characteristics including surface charges, they consequently bind DNA in varying amounts.
DNA binding to PP surfaces has typically only been an issue for reaction tubes and storage vessels but not for PCR/qPCR tubes. DNA sticking to tube walls is either released during denaturation steps and/or remains accessible for amplification.
Nevertheless, due to a progressing volume miniaturisation and with new technologies such as Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), PCR/qPCR tubes are more and more also recommended for other applications which may require ultra-low DNA binding.

Now Available – Frosted Wells for use with ABI®/LifeTechnologies® qPCR Instruments
While clear wells are the best for sample visibility and optical appeal, white wells increase the signal-to-noise ratio by maximising reflect of light in fluorescent based assays used in real-time PCR and qPCR. This leads to a better sensitivity and reproducibility from a wide range of qPCR instruments from most manufacturers.
However, white well PCR plates may lead to software related problems with ABI®/LifeTechnologies® cyclers. For this reason the manufacturer recommends the use of plates with frosted wells as an alternative to white wells. Although the frosting does not provide the same sensitivity as white wells, readings are still considerably higher than those achieved with standard clear wells.
In response to this, we at 4titude® have developed a frosted well variety of the FrameStar® 96 Well Semi-Skirted Plate to offer ABI®/LifeTechnologies® instrument users the time and money-saving advantages of FrameStar®. And as the signal levels are directly comparable with ABI®/LifeTechnologies® plates, there’s no need for users to recalibrate their instruments.

Forensic applications demand the highest quality consumables. Avoiding external DNA contamination is of the utmost importance, and as a result high demands are placed upon manufacturers of products for use throughout the workflow.
At 4titude®, we have a stringently controlled cleanroom production facility certified, according to ISO 9001 and ISO 13485, for production of DNA and RNA free products. Following cleanroom production, 4titude®’s consumables for forensic use are packed into ethylene oxide permeable bags and then subjected to ethylene oxide sterilisation. This 2-step processing ensures degradation of amplifiable DNA.
Plates of this design for forensic use are now available to order under the product code 4ti-OX770C/SBC.
This plate is available with linear Code 128-format barcodes to aid identification and traceability for your samples. To order your plates with barcodes, simply add /SBC to the end of the ordering code for Standard Single Barcoding, /DBC for Standard Double Barcoding, /TBC for Standard Triple Barcoding, or /QBC for Standard Quadruple Barcoding.
